GTA V available now free

It was leaked out a bit bit prior time, but the Epic Games Store has now debuted its biggest limited time free game ever. thieving Auto 5 is now available on the service to be claimed at no cost over the subsequent week, starting today, May 14, through next Thursday, May 21.

While Epic has had AAA games before (Assassin’s Creed, Just Cause) and good games (FTL, Hyper Light Drifter) as a part of its free games program, GTA 5 is clearly on another level entirely because the single best selling game of all that isn’t Minecraft (that cheats, it’s way cheaper) with 120 million copies sold since its debut in 2013. It remains one among the best-selling games of the year, ever year, to the current day.

The way the Epic Store’s free game works is that you just can claim a game during its featured week and at that time week ends…you get to stay it. What’s the catch? No catch. the concept is to gave smaller games more exposure and proposals and larger games the chance to sell microtransactions. Sometimes you'll be able to flip those.

For GTA 5, the motivation seems pretty clear. While yes, they're still actively selling many copies per annum, the $64000 moneymaker for the sport is GTA Online, the also-free online component of the sport that's loaded with microtransactions and has become a hugely popular online world over the years. So no, a free week within the Epic Games store isn't any skin off Rockstar’s back, and that they may find yourself hooking people into GTA Online as a result, getting them to spend money there instead down the road.

Epic games

GTA 5 and GTA Online have both been such massive successes it's likely pushed back GTA 6 far past when it'd have start off normally (there were only 5 years between GTA 4 and 5). We are already on year 7 here, and per reports, GTA 6 continues to be early in development over at Rockstar, meaning it's still several years away at the very least. And you'll be able to bet it'll arrive with GTA Online 2 or whatever it’s called then.

GTA 5 has previously been a component of assorted deals over the years, and recently was on Xbox Game Pass until it absolutely was replaced by Red Dead Redemption 2. But this Epic Games store free week is literally that, completely free, as you don’t need a separate subscription to anything so as to access it. Just download and play.

This just went live now, so get on your time on and claim it. If not, who knows if it'll ever be available completely free on PC again.

Update: The demand at no cost GTA 5 is so great that it's knocked the Epic store offline. Mine actually loaded in another language after I finally got it to figure, though I wasn’t ready to claim GTA yet. Check back for updates:
